Wooden Boats made using hardwoods such as Balau and Chengal.
Hardwood is the traditional material used for wooden boat building, particularly the hull and spar construction, due to its great availability and ease for working with. Hardwoods, such as Chengal and Balau, prevent rot whereas other woods, such as Meranti and Kempas, can rot very quickly. The hull of a wooden boat usually consists of planking fastened to frames and a keel. These keels and frames are traditionally made of hardwood such as Chengal to make boats that are sturdy and long-lasting.
Kamwo Timber is a regular supplier of Balau and Chengal sawn timber to many companies in the marine builder industry.
